RE: Upside down! Just wonder how many of us are!

I bet there is a 'Shoe Forum' somewhere, and they are arguing whether the $ 600 they spent on Magli shoes is a good investment.. you know, the Sex and the City Forum ???
Back to RVs -
The flaw in the 'enjoy it - life is short' line of reasoning is that your circumstances may change drastically - lose health insurance, severe illness, house in jeapordy.. then your fun-fun-fun logic will not look too wise. And you know these days, **** does have a habit of happening. You may need to cash out everything to survive, and being negative in those circumstances can be disastrous.
Also.. what if gas lines return ? Thought about that ? Truck drivers will not take kindly to Class A's filling up at truck stops.
Do you realize how close we are to gas shortages ? High prices - thats nothing !! What if you cant get i t?

RE: Manufacturers: who has staying power

United Airlines and General Motors will be gone in 2 years. GM will be taken over.
UAL will merge then just go out of business.
Fleetwood, Monaco and all Class A's , will be bought up too , and all disappear in favor of European 'Caravans' ...
Think it wont happen ?
And NASCAR wont ever have Toyota engines across the board eihter.

RE: Damon Unveils "Avante" Fuel-Efficient Class A

Really, especially since the Sprinter absed Class C's and B's get near 20 MPG.
A step backward

Pulsar I apologize for not making the connection between Roku and Tiered pricing that you pointed out.. since its such a foreign concept ! Good point.

RE: Surprise Surprise

There is a really simple rule which applies to all compression engines: Higher BMEP = more fuel and air consumption.
This means it is throttle position, not RPM or vehicle speed which determines fuel flow, even more so with EFI vehicles.
Lugging at 1700 RPM with the throttle mashed to the floor gains you nothnig. If you can get 90 MPH at that same throttle position you might as well (shift gears)
Its that simple.

RE: Leak from icemaker area

you could also just shut off the feed line and be done with it forever. leaking ice maker lines are a major threat to the floor, an undetected leak can cause serious damage, sidewall delam, and musty smells.

RE: Motorcycle - am I crazy??

Suppose you go past 1,000 side streets, each one with a car waiting to pull out.
Number 1001 will pull out in front of you. Or 2001.
Nobody has ever 'laid it down' to escape an accident. It went out from under them due to bad braking technique.

RE: Netflix Roku player.

Tiered pricing is not the same a Roku. Roku works WITH your internet service to download movies on demand for NO CHARGE except that which you pay for Netflix membership and internet service anyway.
problam is, only old movies are available on Roku now. Also quality is less than DVD resolution, about 480 lines or worse. Good idea but needs improvement

RE: What I just learned about MPG

You will wear out your tires 10,000 miles sooner due to the higher pressure which will cost you $ 80 prorated for 4 tires.
The key to mileage is not rpm, it is throttle opening (BMEP). Driving in 5th at low RPM and lugging will burn far more gas than at a reasonable rpm like 1/3 of max

RE: Installing Wood Floors in a RV???

Pergo is not water proof, and it is not heat-proof either. A RV floor can get hot enough to cause the ends of each 'board' to push against each other and pop up, or warp. They do not return to normal length when it is cool.
Moisture causes swelling and raised spots in Pergo floors. I am talking about a normal kitchen spill or a toilet overflow... which WILL happen sooner or later.

RE: Future of The Class A?

There are already many 22 mpg RVs for sale in America, they are based on the MB Sprinter chassis and made by main stream manufacturers like the Winnebago View.
http://www.winnebagoind.com/products/winnebago/2009/view/
As for exploring for more oil, what makes you think that will bring the price down ? There is no oil shortage, there is a price gouge going on. See any lines at gas pumps ? Nope. No shortage.
Dont blame us 'greenies' for your own mistakes, buying into a 7 mpg life style.

RE: Ride Amtrak lately?

Trying to sleep in an Amtrak coach (large seat notwithstanding) is pure torture.
There will be: people snoring people talking train whistles stops at stations
bumps and jolts too hot or too cold
However,
Amtrak compartments (sleeping car) are a wonderful experience, and meals are included in fare.

RE: City Navigator® North America NT 2009 Map Update

You may get an annoying warning message every time you turn it on.
The maps are already 2 years out of date, so adding another 2 years is not so good.

RE: Best Computer protection

AVG Free is not free any more, it is $ 54/year. Id try Trend Micro P-Cillin.
The only reason Apples are free from viruses is because the virus authors arent interested in a small harmless market. However there is no inherent protection in OS-X and when the viruses do start, the results will be devastating. Same with Linux... which is based on the same operating system as OS-X.. Unix.
The 'run this program' prompts in Vista re user-choice, just lower the warning thresholds and dont listen to Mac people on the subject of Windows.

RE: travel supreme select limited

Jayco is into more than towables.. they produce a diesel-powered Super-C class (Seneca) which is 37 feet long and rivals pushers for amenities, at the price point 105,000 (realistic).

RE: Alfa Problems

A few things to check -
- Is the fuse blown ? Dont know where is is ? Welcome to the wonderful world of getting to know your coach ! Look for a wiring diagram in your owners manual. Also pull the fuse box covers and look for labels.
- There will be a adjustment box hidden somewhere maybe under the sink, bathroom, some weird place. it is the controller box. You may be able to tinker with that to get the slide to move
- Make sure you are connected to shore power.. many slides just wont move under battery power
- Try 'helping' the slide motor, push or pull on the slide as the motor works. But be careful not to crack or bend the bodywork.
